Hello,

I think the noisy fans are the ones in the power supply, rather than the big one that cools the CPUs (unless it cycles to high?). They are noisy and it will be great if someone finds/makes a fan that pushes as much air with less sound, but I don't doubt Apple's hardware folk know what they're doing and they are probably necessary.

They bought two of the new dual-proc machines for the new Music Tech lab at my College. I can confirm that not only do they make a right racket, you can dry your hair on what comes out of the back of them. In a sound studio - impossible! They must be pushing those chips really hard - can they really take the heat long-term?
