okay, I think I'm tired of that, too. - We sit here keeping our heads
busy without having ever seen a styled AudioUnit. kinda stupid, isn't
it?
I am not suggesting there be no custom controls or interface. Take a
look at Bias's 4 band EQ, Freq. It has custom controls, but it looks
like it belongs along side any other OS X application. That's exactly
the point, and I would never complain about that interface.
Yes, it (iFreq) is fitting quite well. Nevertheless I like other views,
too. I do like the idea of loading up semantics. I would use Aqua-like
interface for neutral things, dark appearance for destructive stuff etc.
Your metaphor ideas do make sense, but not in an all encompassing way
in this context as you are proposing. As I mentioned in another email,
Apple realized this too in their QuickTime player - of course I may be
being presumptuous - but using that volume dial in the interface was
not wise.
Yes, absolutely. Dials are not quite metaphors suitable for mouse
driven user interfaces (nor are virtual keyboards, by the way ;-).
And I admittedly also don't like the look of Emagics latest plugins in
their steel plasma dress. Eye catching, indeed but also seemingly using
puzzling appearance to suggest innovation...
Cheers,
;) Urs
