As an alt. to moving the mouse up/down you could have a pref. that allows you to use the scroll-wheel to do the same thing (think of that as the knob/slider while the key is down). I think that would be easier for me to use, anyway. ;-)

Yeah, I've thought of that too, but most scrollwheels make my knuckles ache :)

Definitely a possibility though.

I've also thought of doing some sort of USB control surface that operates on this principle. Instead of a bunch of knobs, have a field of buttons, maybe those LCD switches from NKK, so you could display the parameter name and setting on them, and then have one large knob or slider to control things. Only trouble is your eyes could glaze over pretty quick staring at a big grid like that ..
