I would think these can be user-specified.

Ableton Live has something similar: put the program in 'key learn' mode,
and you can assign keys to samples which can be triggered. Turn learning
mode off, and the assigned keys do the job.

Perhaps I'm one of the blessed people who doesn't have to look at their
keyboard to be able to type something ;)
