For all interested, the official Logic Audio Platinum 5.4 has just been

Curiously enough the linked README is erroneously for 5.3 instead of
5.4.
There's a new MIDI driver in that download, too. FYI: The link to the
separate download for the MIDI driver seems to be old -- the installer
has a modification date of 2 September, which was about the time of the
original Logic OS X release. (I didn't try installing it because of
that...)
Good news:
The new driver is correctly keeping the connections between my AMT8 and
external devices, instead of losing them like it did before. Good job!
Bad news:
I'm seeing weird behavior where sending MIDI to one endpoint results in
it actually being sent out all of them. That is, I send to Port 1, but
the data goes out of all 8 ports (all the lights blink and devices
attached to all 8 ports get the messages).
It's pretty easy to reproduce this with the midiecho demo in
/Developer/Examples/CoreAudio/MIDI/SampleTools. I run it, it says:
name=Unitor8, manuf=Emagic, model=Unitor8
8 sources
Echoing to channel 1 of Port 1
but data going in one port gets echoed out to all 8 ports.
In my app, this problem seems to spontaneously fix itself after I send
data to a few different endpoints, for some reason. (I haven't narrowed
it down any further than that.)
Anyone have any ideas?
