Persisting an AUGraph

In the header comments for AUGraph there's a discussion of "persisting" an AUGraph, but there doesn't seem to be an API that lets you get a block of data describing the
AUGraph that could be persisted.

Can anyone elaborate on what this capability is? The only way I can see to do it would
be to examine the nodes and connections and store them all separately.
