Folks,
A thought struck me this morning concerning user presets for all these
AU devices.
I can imagine users wanting to take a preset created in one AU host and
use it in
another AU host. Is there a standard format that hosts should adopt for
storing
user preset data? I know that the class info comes back as a dictionary
that could be
saved as a .plist. Is this what we want to do? It could generate a
whole host of
little .plist files which might be OK if a user is organized and
stores their presets
in a tidy folder hierarchy. Another option might be to go with a
"ReFill" like approach
and automagically create a self organizing library of presets using the
component
description info to keep things tidy, and allowing an export/import
capability to get
at the individual .plist class info data.
Or is that overkill? Maybe, but it seems important that we agree on a
standard file
format for individual presets at least.
Comments?
Thanks,
Robert.
