That's why Niko said Library/, not /Library/

Not to be pedantic, but Library/ is a relative path, not an absolute, and though it can mean everything, especially
/Library/
or
~/Library/
or
/System/Library/
...

The Mac OS has a clever mechnism for searching for resources: first is searches in ~/Library, then it searches in /Library and then it searches in /System/Library. So you can have local and global preferences (or system extensions or whatever resource) and you can "overload" the System without modifying anything in /System, so system updates are very unproblematic (normally everybody has an identical /System folder) etc.

It is always the better solution to make use of system calls for already existing concepts than to build own concepts.
