I'm brand new to OS X programming but have been doing C on embedded and
Linux systems for many years.
I was in the same situation as yourself, having been only a Linux C/C++
programmer for years, I decided to give Cocoa/ObjC a chance and I LOVE
IT! ObjC is not really that difficult to grasp, besides somehow I
gather that Carbon is in a state of deprication (not officially - that
could be premature to say though). If you are going to be 'stating from
scratch' in OS X, definetly give Cocoa/ObjC a shot.
The book: "Cocoa Programming for OS X" by Aaron Hillegass. IMHO, this
book is a GREAT book to start with, the examples/projects are simple but
thorough (as they should be so that the user can grasp the ideas). For
reference material, I simply use Apple's own docs and samples.
Hope that helps and good luck...
