I had a quick look at the code mentioned by Laurent Humbert in his answer to Robert. This code seems to handle real time messages. It looks quite complete. Valuable sample code.

And yes, an "irritating protocol" if not more ...

Thanks for the answer to my question about the midi notify thread context. It will save me some work.
