Yeah, I've seen that and find it very cool. Works just fine with
InterfaceBuilder. But I think it is headed for Cocoa development only,
which would cause me even more brainwork to implement than the usual
Carbon way.
And then there are those of us who have been away from Mac development
long enough that we don't remember the Carbon way of doing things, and
find that Cocoa is dead simple. :)
For me, it would be just the reverse: were it a Carbon-only widget, I
wouldn't have much interest in it, since it would be too much
brainwork. Much simpler in Cocoa. "One man's meat is another man's
poison", I guess ..
In fact, I've used a _lot_ of GUI toolkits, including PowerPlant and
raw Mac Toolbox, and I've found that Cocoa/Interface Builder/NeXTStep
etc. etc. is the fastest GUI-building environment I've ever used
(Delphi/C++ Builder is second, and Qt third; Visual Basic doesn't
count, 'cause I like my software to work :) ). When I need to write
something quickly that works well and looks pretty, Cocoa's the only
place I look nowadays - unless, of course, I want it to be
cross-platform. (I've not looked into GNUStep much, but it does look
promising.)
I have absolutely no objection to a Carbon adaptation of Circular
Slider, nor indeed to Carbon itself; I just thought it might be
interesting to introduce another point of view.
cheers
