CoreAudio SDK available

  • Subject: CoreAudio SDK available

As you know this SDK is now available - http://developer.apple.com/audio/
(we found it was posted because you guys found it:)

A couple of things worth pointing out about this:
(1) Requires 10.2 for much of the example code
(2) Supersedes the pre-existing AudioUnit SDK - this link will be removed
from the web site shortly
(3) The SDK includes BOTH sample code and documentation. The installer
package will overwrite the /Developer/Examples/CoreAudio directory when you
install (as it contains everything that was there previously) as well as
both new examples and rewritten versions. The documentation is installed in
/Developer/Documentation/CoreAudio. The docs for AudioUnits are reasonably
complete (including both API usage documentation and docs for the set of
classes that can be used to implement AudioUnits). This part supersedes the
AudioUnit chapter that was in the prelim pdf that is also obtainable from
this site. We still have other areas of CoreAudio to further document, but
we are getting better than we were I hope.

We will be revising this SDK periodically, so if there are problems that you
find, or examples or docs that you would like to see, we would be happy to
get your comments and respond to them. In fact, getting feedback will help
us to prioritize those areas that we complete next (especially in the
documentation phase).

Thanks

Bill
