This usually indicates that the hub to which your evolution keyboard is
connected is resetting the ports (or a hub further upstream). Try plugging
the keyboard directly to the computer or to some other hub and see if the
behavior goes away.
If you're having this sort of problems, it is not surprising that eventually
things go "really bad". A flaky hub will really mess things up. For one
thing, it will keep closing the connection to the user client, so MIDI might
get confused.
