I just posted this to quicktime-api and realized that it would be
appropriate here too... sorry for the cross-post if you're
subscribed to both lists.
Hi,
Is there any way to route audio playback coming from a QuickTime
movie to an AudioUnit?
I would also be interested to know if there is any way to route audio
from iTunes, DVD player, Real etc. through AudioUnits. I have a
spatial simulator for headphones (currently VST) which would be more
useful in that mode than as an editor plugin. My knowledge of Mac OS
is very limited, so I don't know if that is even possible, although I
have a feeling DRM is going to be a major issue.
I have to finish and archive some current projects before I can even
load Jaguar and risk losing firewire, video, or worse. Then I will
want to dig into the AU docs and see what they can do. It is a bit
disappointing to hear that the AU API forces you to use Carbon, if
that is true. I was hoping to avoid having to learn the 'legacy'
stuff entirely.
