MusicSequenceSaveSMF always uses standard drum kit

Have other folks seen this?

I discovered it in my app's code and have reproduced it in a smaller
test project. If you create a MusicSequence track with a drum kit instrument
sound, exporting an SMF seems to always revert to the Standard Kit.
In my test I've used the brush kit (MusicDeviceInstrumentID 296).
Playing back the sequence from the app is fine, all of the brush kit
sounds are used. The exported SMF plays back Standard Kit sounds
and I verified via QuickTime Pro that it is the Standard Kit that's exported.

Is there any workaround?

Thanks in advance,
Christopher
