Custom View Question

  • Subject: Custom View Question

Just wondering if there is any reason NOT to create a custom view for an AU. i.e., we're developing a gui for an AU that does not use the CarbonViewBase classes, but instead uses our own stuff. Is there anything regarding how hosts load a gui view, etc., that makes custom view GUIs a no no?

I guess to be more specific, some host apps load their native plug-ins inside a window that has a toolbar or something similar... how will this be handled with AUs? Especially if the AUs gui has custom code as mentioned above. Do the host apps just accept the gui window that the AU creates and don't bother with making their own toolbars now?

Thanks
Mike
