Hmmm, well, if your only problem then is just the custom units
types/strings thing, then I guess that I was a little confused. Because
of what you had said about mapping parameter values internally and
wrapping VST, I thought that you were also looking for a way to use VST
normalized parameter ranges in AU. If not, then most of what I've been
saying probably wasn't particularly useful or helpful, sorry about that...

Of course. And I thought I was giving you info and ideas to help you do
that, but I think I was just misunderstanding the crux of your problems...
