Sorry for the redundancy - since the last post of this question was
pre-holiday I'm reposting one more time before I burn a dts ticket -
I really want to have up-to-date AIFF support and interoperability
the apps I'm developing, I was hoping this would be more readily
available...
[AMENDED REPOST:]
Is the spec for the AIFF/AIFC format as currently implemented by
Apple apps publicly available (free or for a fee)?
I've seen this question posted before but haven't seen a
definitive answer or URL.
In looking at AIFF files provided with Soundtrack I'm seeing things
that aren't mentioned in either the old (sgi.com) AIFC spec found
online,
in the original AIFF draft spec from Apple, or in the QuickTime /
Sound Manager documentation. In particular there are chunks like
'basc', 'trns', 'cate', and 'JUNK'. If these are application-specific
things
I'd expect them to be buried in an 'APPL' chunk, but they're not.
I've also seen a few places online where "undocumented extensions"
to AIFF are mentioned, which don't utilize the 'APPL' chunk.
I'd like to maximize interoperability with Soundtrack and other apps
that make extended use of AIFF/AIFC.
Thanks,
Chris
