Hi Jens,

Not that it should matter to me, but what need do you have that requires 192khz playback capability? Can you play DVD audio on a mac? I'd prefer to see SACD support on the Mac before DVD audio, in any case.

I too am suspect of USB, but that's probably from the old USB days. I've never had any problems running audio over it, granted I don't use over 44.1khz audio.

MOTU has a few firewire devices (www.motu.org), though they are probably more than you're looking for. Also the Quata-fire device at www.audiomidi.com might be ok for you, but not sure if it does playback. You could probably find many things with a google search.

Hi all,

I'd like to get a 192kHz playback frequency on my Mac, in place of the silly 44.1kHz that ships with the computer as default.
I'm not a musician; just a developer like all of you. ;)
I've been looking at LynxTwo, it looks excellent, but my pockets are empty, so I kept looking (still dreaming about the Lynx...)
I also found Terratec's cards, but it seems the only Mac support they have (currently), is the USB card that supports 96kHz. I don't like connecting real-time devices over things like USB, as a datastream-'spike' would interrupt too much for me; I like when things are perfect and won't be dragged down by accidents or random events. ;)

-So does anyone know about a 192kHz PCI-sound card (FireWire would be OK, though, just not USB; I don't trust this thing) ?

If I should write a driver for the Terratec (Aurora Universe 7.1) card, would this be virtually impossible without any prior knowledge of writing device drivers?
[I believe that those, who already wrote drivers for their own cards wouldn't like to answer that question, heh, but then recommend me your own cards!]

Love,
Jens
