Well it isn't just the MatrixMixer. Most AudioUnits on getting an error from PullInput simply bail out and return that error. AUEffectBase does this.

I can change it to just ignore upstream errors like the stereo mixer does. This would not be the same as disabling the input because disabling goes to some lengths to avoid a pop, but in this case you are doing the equivalent of pulling the 1/4 inch jack out of the plug while the audio is running.

I for one would be happy with this as it makes the mixer behave in a more tolerant manner - and more like a real world mixer :-)

Even if I change it now, there's no telling when it might get into a release, and there's also the OutputUnit and 3D mixer which have the same behaviour.
