That reminds me... We recently had a problem in which bogus (corrupted,
gratuitous, spontaneous) MIDI input seemed to be emanating from our driver
when it ran on one particular machine. The system in question was also
having difficulty running one of the prebinding helper processes. We don't
know why the process was getting invoked, but it would periodically pop up
in the Console app as having crashed. (The only time I know such processes
are supposed to run is during an installation, and the crashes did not occur
in close temporal proximity to a run of any installer.) Wiping the partition
and reinstalling the system helped with both problems. I don't know if the
two problems were related or how, but the coincidence seemed somewhat
interesting.
