Trouble with pan and kMusicDeviceParam_Volume

Some of my users are having woe when trying to use the Pan and Input Level knobs in Rax. For Pan I'm just sending the standard Pan Control MIDI message with the twiddled level. For Input Level I'm using the kMusicDeviceParam_Volume parameter.

Are all MusicDevices supporting these or should I move them to my DLS synth module view and not have them as a standard synth feature?
