It's a nice idea. I'd love to use my VST plugin which simulates stereo
imaging for headphone listening in iTunes instead of having to burn
special CD's. Unfortunately all media players face the prospect of
having to support DRM in the near future. A plugin interface allowing
access to the full quality audio stream would make the media player a
tool for removing copy protection. Apple has been resistant to DRM so
far, but resistance is probably futile.
