Making sense of MIDIData

Dear list

Firstly, happy new years, the boys who light up Sydney
harbour every year have outdone themselves again.

My issue: I am beginning to co-ordinate the development of a
scoring / audio editing / theatrical performanec control
program with a couple of other developers. This is my first
(ambitious) OS X project and having already devided on Java
over Objective C I have become slightly confused after trying
to disect the MIDIData within MIDIPacket(s) received from a
MIDI input.

What I would like to have is (thorough?) knowledge of how to
achieve the functionality of Kurt Revis' MIDI Monitor in
Java. Am I barking up the wrong tree in trying to decipher
how to do a post-mortem on the data within a MIDIData class?

This list seems to be amply endowed to help me out, so thanks
in advance to all who contribute.

Happy New Year, and Peace
David Vernon
