Audio is not vended out currently via /dev/anything. Supporting it is a very large undertaking given the way things work on Mac OS X. The feature has been suggested previously and duly noted by us.

The only alternative you have is to write code that uses the HAL.

Happy new year everyone :)

Apologies if this is a bit off topic, but I can't find a better place to ask :)

I've compiled a linux app called ohphone on my mac osx ibook. (it's an H323 phone software)
It's trying to use the default linux sound devices /dev/sound /dev/dsp
I've had a look an google and I can't find much to help me solve the problem :(

What I'd like to know is, is there any way to make osx use /dev/dsp or /dev/sound in order to make it compatible with Linux apps that use these devices?

Any help, or points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Panny Malialis
