It looks like you've found a work-around for now at least.

I finally know what's going on: The Note Off message get's lost: once the DLS Synth starts playing again, the note hangs until the next time we get to that note.

To be specific, since you've come to the conclusion that the cause is in fact the Note Off getting lost, did you see this in <10.2.2 and earlier?

I have only seen this on 10.2.3.


BTW, how fast is your machine? I'm seeing the same thing on a G4 450, single CPU. Wondering if this is a performance issue...

Definitely not a performance issue: happens on my PB G4/400 as well as on the Dual 1 GHz in my office.
I'll file a bug report tomorrow or the day after.
