How to begin with Core Audio?

I now have the Audio Units Documentation in my hand. And I want to make a
very simple app that opens a audio file and just plays it out of my Motu 828
(or the built in audio device). But I don't know where to start. Can someone
please give me some guidelines because CoreAudio is new to me. And when I
look at the examples I still don't understand how to begin. Yes, I am a
newbee :-)
