That's all that's needed (emphasis on /needed/) and it would be great, sooner rather than later ;-) If it is not done by Apple soon, then it is likely to get done by a 3rd party and it could turn the whole thing into a real mess ...

I don't see us changing any of the implementation and container of the DSP code (the AU proper) to be anything but C/C++ anytime soon. However, that doesn't mean that's the only way that the API for users of AUs or other CoreAudio APIs will be published.

The DSP aspect of AUs is fairly excellent as it stands. It's easy enough to wrap the AU APIs in Cocoa if that's what's required.
