iTunes 3 or 4?

I don't believe either will make a call to change the hardware sample rate and instead do a rate conversion. I wouldn't be surprised if something "interesting" happened with this in iTunes 3. But I just tried setting my hardware to 96K and playing to it with iTunes 4 ... I see a rate converter and it sounds correct.
