Hi folks,
I'm sure this has come up in the past but I didn't find anything in the
archives. I currently have a Carbon application that uses QuickTime
for
audio capture. This works fine and I may continue to use that method
as I
rewrite my application in Cocoa. However, I'd like to consider
switching
over to using CoreAudio/HAL to capture audio.
The only problem is, I see that some audio devices apparently dont
work with
CoreAudio. In particular, I was surprised to find that CoreAudio/HAL
does
not seem to recognize the microphone from my DV camera as a valid input
device. Could someone confirm whether this is to be expected? For my
use I
know that I have too many customers that use their DV camera's
microphone
for audio input so I may have to stick with Quicktime just for that
reason.
DV input is a synthesized audio source made by Quicktime for the Sound
Manager iirc. So for this you will have to continue to use QuickTime.
