Hi Bill,

Well it's not really a problem with Properties but how to ensure that an equivalent to PrepareInstrument/ReleaseInstrument is called. This can't be handled just through the Instrument properties but requires the host to call these APIs. I was unaware that Logic was calling these - I've got a developer copy of Logic but being a dyed in the wool Cubase fan I can't figure out how to make it work! :-)

Personal recollection moment: I remember playing with Cubase 1.0 on the Atari ST at a music equipment show at Olympia in London back in the late 80s and it was mind blowing after using Steinberg Pro 12/24.

If you can please use the properties that we define for instruments in AudioUnitProperties.h

If there are additional properties we need to add for this to work for the cases you are dealing with, we will certainly consider that.

OK - this sounds like the best way to go. I'll put in custom properties for handling the instruments and export no instruments or factory presets.

Thanks for the input everyone.

For current hosts, MusicDevices are nothing more than AudioEffects without input channels.

I have checked out inputs in a Zoyd build within Logic. Looked like it worked...

And if I had votes to catch, I'd go for a universal approach. Any behaviour should be available anywhere, and it could be sorted out via Properties...
