I have been seeing some strange behavior with the AudioFile API. I was
wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem, or if I am
doing something wrong.
Here's the problem;
Accessing an audio file using the AudioFile API is slowed down
substantially (by about a factor of 5-20 (sic!)) when the file is
simultaneously previewed in the Finder in column view.
If other people has experienced the same thing, please let me know,
I'll file a bug!
I ran a battery of tests using standard C API for file access calls, to
investigate. My findings were that there was a slow down in file
access, but that is to be expected. The slow down using C API calls
ranged from 5% to 12%, depending in file size. I tested with the same
audio files as with the AudioFile API, with and without preview.
