Panther Server & CoreAudio

  • Subject: Panther Server & CoreAudio

I'm going to be revamping my G4 desktop soon and
wanted to ask a general question about CoreAudio development
and Panther server.

For awhile (until I've saved up for a G5) the system is
going to be doing double-duty as my main dev / audio
workstation and as a lightweight server that a few other
developers will access, mainly for cvs and remote file sharing.

I'm considering installing Panther server instead of
regular Panther so that I'll have some advanced tools for
server config. I just wanted to check - is there any
reason I shouldn't do this from CoreAudio development
and testing perspective? I'm assuming that the base
frameworks for development, CoreAudio and QuickTime are
going to be the same, and that third-party audio apps
won't care whether they're running under Panther or
Panther Server as long as the drivers and hardware are
there.

Anyone know of any server 'gotchas' that I should be
aware of?

TIA,
Christopher
