Two AVI questions

  • Subject: Two AVI questions

1)Is is possible to replace the audio track of an AVI file without touching the video
using quicktime calls? I assume I could add a new audio track, delete the old audio
track, but then how could I update the AVI headers to reflect the new audio track's
parameters?

2)Is it possible to export a file into AVI format (using ConvertMovieToFile, or anything
else) and avoid recompressing the the movie track? I can't seem to run a Cinepacked
AVI out through ConvertToMovie without loosing video quality, and certainly recompressing
isn't helping.

In short, I'd just like to swap the audio track of an AVI file, and write out the result without
touching the video, but it's not clear to me how to do this.

thanks in advance,

david
