Hi Dave,

That's good to know - where did you get the info about the top level directories? I'd only found info about the MIDI Devices folder (which both MOTU and Digi reference).

Thanks,

Robert.

I want to add midnam support to my app, but I'm confused about where to find these files. It looks like MOTU and Digidesign are storing these common files under their own locations in either:

~/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU/...

or
~/Library/Audio/MIDI Patch Names/Digidesign/...

What's up with that? Is there not a standard location?

Isn't this going to be a train wreck for users with multiple apps that want to access patch name docs?

And where should I put my patch name documents if I use neither of these apps?

I don't know about DP, but ProTools does not require you use those locations. In fact the midnam and middev docs I use are in the root level of each directory, as they are not among those provided by digidesign, and PT sees them fine.
So just put them in:
~/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/ and ~/Library/Audio/MIDI Patch Names/ , respectively, and they will be fine. [at least with PT and also, I suspect, with DP]
