AudioChannelLayout and hardware drivers

Hi,

I saw that in the AudioMIDISetup Utility in 10.3 you can set the AudioChannelLayout of a hardware device. Will my kernel driver get notification of such changes? If so, how? Is there updated documentaion for audio drivers in 10.3? Will that break compatibility with 10.2?

Thanks,
Stefan
