This talk of drivers writing to the prefs plist is making me wonder about a related problem I'm having with Audio MIDI Setup. My setups occasionally get trashed without explanation. I have the driver for the FastLane-USB MIDI interface which has two ports. I add two external devices in the setup for the two synths that I have connected and sometimes the external device entries just mysteriously disappear. I have more than one setup and I sometimes find that they all have their external devices missing. Then I delete one of them and the external devices in the default setup magically reappear.

However you look at it this is pretty buggy behaviour. Having followed this thread I'm getting the idea that maybe the Fastlane-USB driver is corrupting the prefs plist or perhaps Audio MIDI Setup has a bug somewhere.

Is this happening to anyone else?
