I noticed that the quicktime player can read MIDI files with lyrics,
I don't know what the format of a *.kar file is. It has been too long since
I was involved in that area of our business, but I think it may be the same
as a Standard MIDI File with Lyric Meta Events. The specification for
embedding lyrics as Meta Events in a Standard MIDI File is at:

That definition assumes you know MIDI and Standard MIDI File specs.
