Hi Mike,

I think I found out what's causing the mDataByteSize to be set to 0 in the first place. The convert buffer returns an error kAudioConverterErr_InvalidInputSize when the audio converter is re-created.

I don't understand this - the input format stays the same and the size of the data to be converted never changes.

Any ideas?

i just wrote a test program (HAL-only, to exclude any MTCoreAudio issues) which shows that this is all in the HAL, and which, i believe, is a HAL bug, based on the language in AudioHardware.h. here's the test program:
