From one newbie to another:

There are several ways to get to the contents of a 'bundled' directory.
I come from the unix world so I use a shell. For more typical
Mac users the Finder works just fine. Just Ctrl-Click on the
Application and choose 'show bundle contents' (or something like that.
The actual string is localized and I get it in swedish: 'visa
paketets innehell')

Once inside the bundle you put your icon in the Resouce directory
and put in a CFBundleIconFile entry in the Info.plist file
with the name of the icon. You can visit another app to see
a working example.
