MIDI device icon ambiguity

Suppose I have several USB MIDI devices with different form factors but
identical behavior as far as USB is concerned. They even have the same
product IDs. There is absolutely no way for software to determine a
difference between a large device and a small device, yet I still want to
tell AMS to display icons for these devices which resemble the physical
objects. I must involve the user, who has eyes and a brain. The question
then becomes how to allow the user to choose the correct icon for her
device. Can I install image files into this directory?

    /Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/Generic/Images/

Is there some other way to make the images available to the user?

Boy; I am just a fount of queries lately.
