That's correct. The canonical format for any AU is non-interleaved (the
only exception to this is the AUConverter and AU Output units that are
able to do format transformations)

This must be a mistake in your code - the varispeed will do any num
channels in to out as long as they are the same num channels

Can it be that the Varispeed AU works in stereo only? I tried
changing
its stream format, but it appears to reject anything that is not in
stereo floats. If it's stereo only, it's close to useless for me,
unfortunately.
