GarageBand AU preset file format

  • Subject: GarageBand AU preset file format

One of my testers has found something interesting. GarageBand saves AU presets in a strange manner. There's some garbage (actually it looks like the type codes) being put at the head of the preset XML file:

*<AlfaPPSTbuzz<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

The same preset saved by my app has:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Naturally this means that presets can't be shared with GarageBand. Surely this is not what is intended?

Thanks for any insight,

Robert.
