This brings me to the question :
Who is "officially" responsible for sending the notification after a
preset change ?
Is it the host or the AU ?
As I understand it, it should always be done by the originator of the
settings change.
So, if the host has some settings load mechanism, it must always send
the notification after sending a setting to the AU.
If the AU has some additional settings handling of its own (like the
factory preset selection in Apple AUs), it should send the notification
whenever the user changes a setting this way.
Apple AUHosting does it.
On the other hand, most AU seem to also implement this.
This may very well be due to the bug in Logic not sending the
notification when it should (as explained in my reply to Os). I'd
assume many AUs added the notifications when they discovered that this
way they could work around the bug in Logic.
As said before, it will be fixed in Logic.
