Many thanks for your reply and advice. My question arose because I have
considerable experience coding in Java and none whatsoever in ObjectiveC.
You say: "the beauty of java is that it is completely portable". I would
say that this is only one of the many beauties of Java - there is a lot of
neat stuff in the Java language. Were I to develop my application in
ObjectiveC then I would be OS-X bound, therefore there is no real loss in
choosing Java and CoreAudio compared to this approach. Further CoreAudio
Audio Units written in Java should be able to integrate with any other
CoreAudio product.
From your comments, the questions that now come to mind is the feature set
of CoreAudio compared to that of Java Audio and Java MIDI and the importance
of having a portable code base.
