[ANN] DFX AU Utilities update + license change

  • Subject: [ANN] DFX AU Utilities update + license change

Hello all. I am just writing to inform you that I released an update
today to my DFX AU Utilities library which contains a few slight changes
in the code, but more importantly, I have changed the license for the
binary and source code from the GNU Lesser General Public License to a
modified BSD License. This new license is more lenient with respect to
using the library with non-GPL or LGPL projects.

http://destroyfx.org/dfx-au-utilities.html

I don't know what happened when I first put this together and chose the
license, in my haste, I must have been reading something else when I
thought I was reading the terms of the LGPL, but at any rate, after
someone pointed something out to me about the LGPL recently, I went back
to read it and it is not what I remembered it being, most importantly, it
doesn't allow you to statically link the library or use the source code in
non-GPL or LGPL software. You can only dynamically link it. So anyway,
that's why I changed the license. To those of you who I misled about the
terms of the LGPL (due to my own incompetence), I apologize, and to those
of you who used it given what I said, I also apologize, but don't worry,
I didn't sue you, and now I can't because I changed the license to one
that won't allow me to sue you for not dynamically linking.

Marc
