And in fact, the control panel that comes with the MOTU interfaces
already provides an interface to turn on/off the Digital I/O's for
example (which then affects the number of input and output channels you
as an application will see from the device).
So, the user can have some control from this already, but Doug's point
still stands of course
One way that might be best to think about this though, is that you do
this as an AU - let the host app do all of the routing, and interface
managing issues.
