There isn't an easy way to do this with either AMS or the Sound Prefs Panel. But, if you build the HALLab app (/Developer/Examples/CoreAudio/HAL/HALLab), in it's device info window, in the "Controls" tab, there is a check box that allows you to tell the built-in hardware (or USB device depending on your situation) not to own the iSub. This will disassociate the two and the signal should stop getting filtered.

I have an iSub. When it's plugged in, the bass of the audio goes to the iSub rather than the default output speakers. Sometimes I want to disable the iSub, but I can't seem to do that. I have to unplug it otherwise I don't get any bass in my speakers. Muting the iSub doesn't make the bass go to the speakers either.

Is there a better way of disabling the iSub other than unplugging it?
