We aren't recommending this - in fact Battery I think will publish several
outputs, some of which are mono and some of which are stereo. There's *no*
limitation on what the formats are for these.

That might be a bug - but I think auval will print out the formats correctly
for each of the input and output buses it finds when it first opens the AU:

Are you sure that the eight bus has explicitly set the format to mono?
