If it cares it can certainly know about the changes... And reflect them to
the user... But my comment was directed to the fact that you are rendering
into a channel array, so the only job you do after that is to point the
appropriate channels to the buffers provided by each bus as it comes in.

In that sense you don't care at all how the output is being passed out to
the user of your AU.
